Medellín’s main airport is José María Córdova International Airport (MDE).

New York/New Jersey: If you are traveling on Friday, March 5, 2027, and would like to arrive in time for the Welcome Party, we recommend one of the following options:

1- The direct flight (approximately 5.5 hours) from JFK departing at 6:15 a.m. on Avianca Airlines, arriving in Medellín around noon

2- Early morning flights on JetBlue or American Airlines from EWR with short layovers in Florida, typically arriving in Medellín around 2:00 p.m.

Otherwise, there are several additional flight options from EWR, JFK, and LGA with layovers in cities such as Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or Bogotá.

Florida: There are regular direct flights to Medellín, with a flight time of approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Friendly reminder to check your passport´s expiration date. Government guidelines recommend traveling with a passport that is valid for at least 6 months from the start of your trip.

You must complete the Immigration Registration Form within 72 hours before your trip and up to one hour before entering the country. Your airline will ask you for it as well. There is no fee to complete the form:

Medellín is safe to walk around with family and friends exploring the tourist sites; however, like with any city, utilizing the buddy system is always a good idea.

Our wedding venue (Zona E) is located in Llanogrande, a 5-7 minute drive from the José María Córdova Airport (MDE) in Rionegro, Colombia, and 30 minutes from Medellín, taking the Túnel de Oriente.

Cab: The cost of a cab to Medellín should be around USD $25 and around USD $6 to Llanogrande, depending on demand.

Uber: Uber is typically a good option because it shows you the rate in the app and charges your card directly. There is no official Uber pickup zone at the airport. Drivers will likely ask you to sit in the front seat, which is standard in Colombia.

Wedding Day

On our wedding day, transportation will be provided to and from the Click Clack Hotel. Shuttles will depart from the lobby at 3:00 pm and will return to the hotel periodically between midnight and 2:30 am.

Currency Exchange

The official currency of Colombia is the Colombian peso (COP). As of today, $1 USD is equivalent to approximately $3,400 COP.

For the most favorable rates for converting USD to COP, we recommend that you use your local bank. Additionally, you can exchange currency at the airport, hotels, and at various locations throughout Colombia; however, be aware that these options may come with additional fees.

U.S. travelers can withdraw pesos from ATMs in Colombia. Debit and major credit cards are also generally accepted forms of payment.

Days are pleasantly warm, with average highs around 24°C–25°C (75°F–78°F), while nights are cool, dropping to around 13°C–14°C (55°F–57°F).
